The office is able to receive referrals between: 10.00 am and 4.00 pm Tuesday to Friday. Outside these times those making referrals will be asked to phone back.

Before a referral is accepted the following information is required:-

• Name and Address
• Telephone number
• Date of Birth
• Next of kin, Doctor

All our Home Helps and gardeners are self employed and as such are not part of Age Concern and are therefore not covered by Age Concern's Insurance policy. Age Concern Help at Home Scheme simply interviews and takes up references for all workers and then matches appropriate workers with clients in the area.

DOMESTIC WORK: an hourly rate is charged for general household tasks. For example: Cleaning, Laundry and Shopping. RECOMMENDED RATES OF PAY from £7.00 per hour.

GARDENING WORK: from £9.00 per hour.
An estimate should be asked for and agreed before any work is started.

Our home helps provide a domestic service only. We do not undertake personal care. It is the responsibility of the client to agree a schedule with the home help i.e. days and hours required and tasks to be performed. This should be done at the interview. We do monitor our service regularly but it is the responsibility of the client to contact the Help at Home Scheme should any problems arise.

We can only provide help for a maximum of 4 hours per week. If an arrangement is made for extra hours, or for services not specified in our leaflet
