Age Concern Brighton Hove Portslade works directly with older people and we are committed to using this experience to raise public awareness and improve the lives of older people. We achieve this by:
• Influencing the news agenda – working with the press and Age Concern England to highlight how the lives of older people can be improved.
• Influencing MPs and peers – promoting legislation, commenting on proposed legislation and encouraging discussion of the important issues.
• Influencing policy-makers and opinion-formers with specific campaigns such as debt and older people in the City.
We also campaign to raise awareness of the threats against quality of life, on age discrimination at work, even the idea that fun and creativity in later life is just as important for older people as it is for youngsters - and of course the ongoing fight against pensioner poverty.
