This year has been an exciting one for research at Age Concern Brighton Hove Portslade. We have seen the development of a major partnership research project looking into issues relating to older people and alcohol.
Older people have been trained to carry out the research with the idea that it would be beneficial, in terms of developing further skills and expertise, which could be drawn on in other community research projects, and as a more effective way to interview people of a similar age.
A report on the findings is currently being compiled and several dissemination events are planned for the year ahead.
Future research at Age Concern Brighton Hove Portslade will be greatly enhanced by a 2 year Research post jointly funded with the University of Brighton. This is a truly innovative step, and creates an opportunity to work more closely together with the University to identify and develop a research programme which will benefit the well being of older people.
A full time research fellow will be recruited to work with both organizations and we are looking forward to generating some really interesting work that will raise the profile of creative research partnerships, what they can achieve and how they can benefit older people.
