Computer Drop-In Centre
The Centre is located in a very accessible area of Brighton – Seven Dials. The Centre has a friendly and relaxed atmosphere and is equipped with a range of modern and up-to-date facilities.
Availability
The Centre is intended for those aged 50 and over. Come and join us and your time at the Centre will be both productive and enjoyable. Normally, you can stay as long as you like during opening times, but at busy periods, when others may be waiting to use a computer, we may ask you to limit your stay.
Opening Hours
The Centre is usually open Monday – Thursday from 10am to 1pm but on Tuesdays we have specialised training (CLAIT) for these who also want to obtain a qualification. We will very grateful if you contact us prior to your first visit.
Charges
The Centre facilities are provided FREE. However, if you need to use extra services, e.g., printing large documents we may charge you. Otherwise, the best way of saying “Thank you” is a donation.
Our Volunteers
The Centre is operated by our team of well trained volunteers. They come from a wide range of backgrounds and all are experienced computer users themselves. Although they are not teachers – nor do they know everything – they will be really pleased to share their knowledge and experience with you in a friendly and informal way.
The volunteers have varying levels of IT knowledge and we try to match the level of support to your particular needs from basic to more advanced.
Please note that our team cannot provide technical support or trouble shooting for your own equipment.
Accessibility
The Centre has been design to meet different criteria for differently able people. It is located on the first floor of the Age Concern premises and has facilities for wheelchair access. During hot summer days our premises are air-conditioned, during cold winter days we can always offer you a hot cup of tea. In Age Concern we are continuously trying to improve our services and facilities for benefit of our visitors – your benefits.
Safety & protection
For protection of our system and our visitors’ information we will provide you with all necessary resources. You will not need to bring any storage devices, e.g., disks or memory cards.
